Eric Poe, CEO of CURE Auto Insurance
As Chief Executive Officer of CURE Auto Insurance, Eric Poe oversees the operations of nearly 300 employees and nearly $100 million in assets. He is a licensed active New Jersey attorney and Certified Public Accountant. Eric is responsible for the marketing, filing of rates, underwriting, claims, loss control, and litigation strategy for CURE.
Mr. Poe is credited as the outspoken catalyst and initial source of information on the topic of banning the use of education and occupation as income proxies in the car insurance industry. Mr. Poe’s influence has been instrumental in the ban of the industry practice in New York (2018) and Michigan (2019).
As a recognized commentator in the insurance field, Mr. Poe has testified on discriminatory rate setting practices twice before the United States House of Representatives (2008 and 2020), Committee on Financial Services (Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations) in Washington D.C. on the topic of insurance scoring, and the availability and affordability of insurance. He has also testified a combined six times before the New Jersey Senate and Assembly, including the New Jersey Senate Commerce Committee (October 2020), the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation and the New Hampshire Legislature as well as presented to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Special Committee on Race and Insurance and National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL). In addition, Mr. Poe has appeared nationally on CNBC, Fox Business News, and regionally on ABC, CBS, NBC and WPHL as an authority in the field of insurance.
Mr. Poe was awarded NJBIZ’s “40 Under 40” award, recognizing him as one of the 40 most influential New Jersey business entrepreneurs under the age of 40. Poe regularly argues cases and has appeared several times before the New Jersey Supreme Court. In 2015, Mr. Poe successfully argued CURE v. Perez, before the New Jersey Supreme Court, overturning an Appellate Division decision. Additionally, in 2015, under Mr. Poe’s leadership, CURE was nominated as NJBIZ’s “Business of the Year.” He was also named as one of New Jersey Law Journal's Trailblazers in 2020 for his innovation and thought leadership in both the insurance and legal industries. In 2021, Mr. Poe was named to the ROI-NJ Influencers Power List of Executives and was recognized by NJBIZ as one of the “Leaders in Law” in New Jersey.

- In 2019 served as a Special Advisor to Brodie van Wagenen, General Manager. He was in charge of scouting the National League as well as advising on all matters of player personnel.
- In 2017 (Red Sox) and 2018 (Mets) served as the first base coach whereby his duties included outfield and base running instruction
- In 2016, completed his first season as Boston’s First Base Coach after being named to the position on 10/26/15... Was his first year coaching in baseball at any level. While serving as Boston’s outfield instructor and base running instruction, Sox outfielders in 2016 combined for 9 double plays (T-1st in MLB), 35 assists (T-4th in MLB), and a .993 fielding % (1st in MLB)...The Sox featured 2 OF with 13 assists each for the first time since 1978...Mookie Betts earned a Gold Glove Award in RF after having made only 23 starts at the position in his professional career prior to 2016.
- Boston ranked 3rd in the majors with a 77.6% stolen base success rate in 2016 (83-for-107).
- Served as Senior Vice President & General Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies for parts of 7 seasons from November 2008-September 2015...Was the 9th GM in Phillies history.
- During his tenure as GM, his clubs won 3 consecutive NL East titles (2009-11) and were NL champions in 2009.
- In his first 4 years as GM, the Phillies posted a 373-275 (.576) record, the best in the NL...Overall, the Phillies were 573-539 (.515) during his tenure, the 4th-highest winning percentage in the NL in that span.
- His clubs posted the best record in baseball in both the 2010 (97-65) and 2011 (102-60) seasons...Prior to the 2010 campaign, the Phillies had never posted the best record in baseball over a single season.
- Following his final season as a player in 1998, joined the Phillies’ front office as Assistant General Manager for 10 years...Worked alongside general managers Ed Wade (1999-2005) and Hall of Famer Pat Gillick (2006-08) as the club ended a 14-year playoff drought in 2007 and won the 2008 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
